Andy Bissell has built a well-rounded baseball career rooted in player development, performance analysis, and Major League game preparation. He began his collegiate playing career at Sacramento City College before transferring to Azusa Pacific University, where he developed both athletically and academically. Bissell earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2015 and remained at Azusa Pacific an additional year to complete a second bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology, providing a strong foundation in both the mental and physical aspects of athletic performance.
Following his playing career, Bissell transitioned into coaching and player development, gaining experience at multiple levels of the game. He served as the Director of Operations and Catching & Hitting Instructor at Bardo’s Diamond Sports in Denver, Colorado, where he worked closely with athletes on skill development, mechanics, and performance preparation. During his time in Colorado, he also spent two seasons (2017–2018) as the catching coach at Valor Christian High School, further refining his instructional approach with amateur players.
In the fall of 2018, Bissell returned to Sacramento City College, where he served as the program’s Player Development Coordinator. In that role, he focused on individualized development plans, skill progression, and supporting athletes’ transitions to higher levels of competition.
Later in 2018, Bissell was hired by the Seattle Mariners organization. He spent the 2019 season coaching with the Arkansas Travelers before being promoted to the Major League staff in 2020 as a Major League Coaching Assistant. Over the next five seasons (2020–2024), Bissell played a key role in coordinating the Mariners’ in-game replay process while assisting with pre-game preparation and daily operations. His work contributed to critical in-game decisions, including a notable late-season win against the Kansas City Royals during the 2025 season, when he served as the club’s Replay Coordinator.
Currently, Bissell is the Hitting and Catching Instructor at The Edge Baseball Training Facility, where he applies his extensive background in biomechanics, performance psychology, and professional baseball operations to develop players at all levels. His instruction emphasizes efficient movement patterns, game awareness, and translating training results into competitive performance.
